Ban Animal Testing Now!

I wrote about animal testing in an earlier post. Due to the big interest that animal rights and animal tests seem to have I decided to write more about them.

Once upon a time products were tested on beings held in bad conditions in captivity against their will. Many were in pain and died. These tests could possibly leads to advances in medicine. I’m talking about tests conducted on Jews in Nazi concentration camps in World War II.

These tests are considered as completely unacceptable and immoral nowadays.

Once upon a time products were tested on beings held in bad conditions in captivity against their will. Many were in pain and died. These tests could possibly lead to advances in medicine. I’m talking about tests on animals that are still extremely common.

But this time these tests are not widely condemned. Many argue that it is for the public good. But the situation is basically the same; it’s about sacrifying someone for the possible public good that may arise.

To sacrify someone should never be accepted. It is time to realize it and ban animal testing.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN TO GIVE YOUR OPINION! FEEL FREE TO COMMENT WHATEVER YOUR OPINION IS.

Simple, the best way to end animal testing is to stop using products tested on animals. So if you’re against animal testing please do not use any medications as they are all tested on animals. Don’t get any surgical or medical procedures done as they are all tested on animals, usually live ones. If you have cancer or AIDS don’t get any treatment. All the treatments have been tested on animals. If you’re a diabetic stop using insulin or test kits as they are tested on animals. If you are against animal testing don’t get vaccinated for any diseases no matter what as the vaccines are tested on animals. Very important don’t vaccinate your children because the vaccines are tested on animals. If you or a pet are bitten by a stray animal just stay home and hope you don’t get rabies the treatment was tested on animals. Don’t forget not to use soap, shampoo, toothpaste, make-up, or most cosmetics and toiletries as they are tested on animals.

Animals are used to test these things so that people don’t die. If you are against animal testing make sure you attend AIDS awareness rallies or cancer fundraisers and let people know how they are hurting animals. 98% of all test animals are rats and mice specifically bred for the purpose. Less than 1% are dogs, cats or monkeys. The rest are either rabbits, guinea pigs or other animals. Tell these people with AIDS, cancer or heart disease to drop dead, you love mice and rats. The people with muscular distrophy should drop dead too. As the research to cure this disease involves animals.

I am so glad you know how horrible the lab rats and mice have it. You need to save them. I just hope these pathetic humans will stop getting these diseases or at least stop whining about how they need a cure. Humans should drop dead, long live the animals.

    Great idea Animal Rights Wacko.

Animal Welfare Yes, don’t maliciously hurt animals, but animal rights No.

I am sure this comment won’t be on the web but maybe it will stop one person from making a fool of themselves in the future. Unless they are ready to make the sacrifice of rejecting the advances made through animal testing.

The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few.

Animal testing is disgusting and absoulutely inhumane.I am strongly against animal testing and have been ever since I got told what it is.Animal testing should be stopped right now but the thing is that I cannot just make that happen so I need your help by not buying product that have been tested on animals, join an animal rights organization, sign a petition online, write to companies that test their products on animalsand inform your friends about animal testing and alternatives.

  3. Amber Mckinkley on 29 Nov 2007 at 14:41 #

Animal testing is not inhumane. People just dont realize that with out it we would not know about the human body like we do. If animal testing was banned then the products would not be tested and they may sell it and someone could die from it. Do the people who are against animal testing want people to die from prooducts/Medicine that has not been tested? Most medicine has been tested on animals. Do the people who are against animal testing not use medicine? I didnt think so!

How would you like it if someone put you in straps and dripped bleach, deterants, pesisides, weed killer, washing up liquids, and paint, ect in your eyes, force fed down your throat or tapped on your skin. Stop this s*** now! Too many have died for stupid reasons like those 15 rabbits who had their necks snapped just for a f****** picture for a newspaper. That is not a benefit for humans and it wouldnt matter, cause this needs to be stopped and the agony needs to be stopped and all the unneccessry deaths. Say no to the compaines, say no to the products, boycot, sign petitions, write letters to the goverment, say no. STAND UP AND SHOUT. STAND UP FOR THOSE WHO CANT.

For Anonymous that think they know it all i do not think you have the right concept of animal testing. I do not think it is right to hurt a animal and watch them suffer. If it was to be done in a humane manner then its a diffrent story but these people treat the animals as if they had no heart. Try looking at a Monkey screaming his life away while a tube is push through his nose to test the digestion! that is inhumane and if someone has the audacity to see that then they have no MORALS.
Oh! and without testing an animal i discovered that even a tested product that is supposably safe to use because it was tested on animal people have been allergic to meaning even humans rect diffrent and that something that not even science can test.

    down with animal testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Shuayb ciise on 21 Dec 2007 at 20:15 #

Animal testing is arrogant and incredibly cruel. Like us, animals can feel pain and fear, but also excitement and satisfaction. Close contact with animals shows that they look forward to some extents, and can clearly get a lot of enjoyment from their lives, be it from basking in the sun, exercising, eating favorite food, or interacting with others, as in playing and mutual grooming. Certainly animals don’t have the same abilities as humans. They can’t talk, write books or drive cars, but neither can some humans. We don’t ask how intelligent a person is before we decide whether to eat

What is the point in animal testing ! Most porducts we use kill animals but not us! Also its a waste of money! Our planet wasnt made to kill animals !

  9. Anonymous on 11 Jan 2008 at 15:11 #

Our planet isnt here to kill animals to test out lipgloss

  10. Anonymous on 14 Jan 2008 at 16:23 #

I think animal testing is cruel and wrong! Why should an innocent animal be killed just so someone can have a tube of lipstick! If people want to test on something they should at least test on humans because its for the humans. pull some1 who’s sentenced to death out of jail and test on them!!

  11. Anonymous on 21 Jan 2008 at 14:51 #

Why do animal testing it is cruel and harsh. why do the selfish people do it?

  12. Anonymous on 30 Jan 2008 at 5:57 #

Two point seven million lab animals die each year in Britain alone. Hundreds of them are used just for their tissue. If an animal won’t contract a virus that the scientists want to test, they will kill it just to get rid of it. Most of the time the animals do catch the virus. But if the scientist’s cure doesn’t work, the animal will still die. Doing this is wasting the lives of innocent creatures. I believe that animal testing should be put to a stop.

it is crule to kill animal for beauty.!!!

  14. Anonymous on 08 Feb 2008 at 21:14 #

Money and time. That’s the only solution. If you want to help these animals… go win the lottery - DO NOT give the money to ANIMAL RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS.

BECAUSE - PETA = advertisement whores. I no longer hear there “glorious” progress with “saving animals”. I SEE MORE ADS THAN DEEDS. They kill more than they save. Yes, they euthanize adoptable and healthy pets.

ALF = promotes violence, firebombs research labs…

    Do things LEGALLY.

DO NOT SIGN PETITIONS. NO ONE READS THEM.

Do it yourself. FUND the ALTERNATIVES to ANIMAL TESTING. Or find a better solution that compromises both sides to this paradox argument.

Stop being IDEALISTIC and EMOTIONAL. And yes, I can see where all my faults to this argument are at. But I got a list of articles, blogs, videos, and books to defend my point.

Btw, Kudos to the first post. (Most comments here ignore that comment by going with emotional appeal. THINK. USE YOUR BRAIN.)

PS: How are we going to find the cure for cancer if we stop all bio-medical research? Give me a solution to that.

I know that testing on animals has to be done, but in the process of animal testing, they torture the animals, and keep them in cages, show them no love, all the animals know is lonlyness, fear and pain. But whatever right, its ok for other living things to suffer just so HUMANS can have the right shade of lipstick, or perfume. It is inhumane, as to what they do to them, but whatever right their just animals.. why not test on humans, just because humans can speak? talk? make bombs? ANIMALS ARE LIVING THINGS, as are humans.. why is it ok to torture animals but not humans? we’re all gods creatures for god sakes. Animal testing is wrong, and I don’t care who disagree’s with me.

I’d like to know how many people have ever spent time with research animals and studied the issues porperly… cos to be honest (at a guess) all you apposed to testing havent. Because your facts are so inaccurate the only thing your proving to me is you dont have a clue what your talking about. Trust me… you dont.
I’d also like to take this oppertunity to thank who ever wrote on the 24/11/07 at 20.19. As I’d also like to know how many of those apposed have used any of the following products; Aspirin/Paracetamol, insulin, any form of cough medicne or any pain killers? I’d stop that right now if I were you as Yep, you guessed it, we can that our fury little friends for all of those. And even though it is banned in the UK now (and I am also apposed to it) how many of you used shampoo, conditioner, make-up remover, toothpaste? That to is thanks to animals. Or how many of you feed your cat/dog proper cat/dog food. I’d start feeding them at the table with you as all thoses products too (whiskers and pedigree chum) have all used animals in there testing! You can also stop taking your pets to see a vet. As guess where all the surgical techniques and medicinces came from???? How many of those apposes know what the ASPA is?? not many! In a nut shell if it wasnt for animal testing alot of you wouldn’t be reading this now, and if you were lucky enough not to have ever used any medicines EVER and still be sround you’d be very smelly!!!

  21. Anonymous on 13 Mar 2008 at 3:32 #

Millions of animals die every year from animal testing. Thirty-three die every second in laboratories worldwide, and in the UK, one every four seconds. 95% of tests are discarded as useless or dangerous to humans. And even Less than 2% of human illnesses are found in humans. Rats, highly used in tested are only 37% accurate in identifying what causes cancer to humans, so flipping a coin would be more accurate. At least 50 drugs on the market give laboratory animals cancer, yet are allowed because they know animal testing is not relevant. In animal testing, lemon juice is poison. 88% of stillbirths and 61% of birth defects are cause by drugs passed as safe in animal tests. Animal testing is torture. Though the saddest thing is that all this can easily be stopped, because we have more than 450 ways we can replace animal experiments.

Anny. Number 1: My mother suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and I am still strongly opposed to animal testing. You have entirely missed the point of what we re aiming for, which is to one day live in a society where medications are tested on willing individuals instead of innocent creatures. Another great way to avoid animal testing on medications used for chronic illnesses? STEM CELLS! But judging by the obscenely ignorant tone of your last letter, I am willing to bet that to you, the rights of an unborn embryo far outweigh the rights of living animals. People like you are the problem because you think that your ability to speak makes you better that those who don’t. We all share this planet with animals, and you need to remember that you are a mammal, just like the animals that are tested on.

Dear Anonymous on 24 Sep 2007 at 20:19

My My, such sarcasm. Animal testing is wrong. Plain and simple. No, we don’t want the human race to die out. No we don’t want humans to suffer. And NO, we don’t want animals to take the pain of tests for our benefit. It’s our sickness, our problem, and our job to find a cure. What’s closer to human DNA? A rats or another human? (please tell me you know the answer). Why use a rat when we have the technology to clone the human skin. (Look up the Biochip).
    http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2007/12/18_datachip.shtml
We’ve come so far in our society. Why still use animals like we’re in the dark ages? Reactions differ form animal to animal. Trust a rabbit’s reaction to hairspray compared to the recation given from human tissue? Please, look up alternatives before you go about thinking ARA’s are crazy, and that there is no other option. If we can land on the moon, then we can find better ways to do these tests than hurting these animals. And more importantly, do research, and think outside the box instead of only looking at one option. Arrogance is an ugly feature on you.
    Lauren.

I know i have said that animal testing is not inhumane but im here to say im sorry for saying that. I see the point in some testing and some of it isnt inhumane but i have seen things on you tube that has changed my mined about all animal testing. For me i think its not really the fact that they are testing on them its the way the do it and the way they treat them. They treat them like they cant feel the pain or that they dont have feelings. Im not totally against all animal testing just the unnessasary ones.

ok you people need to do research alot of products do not need to be tested on animals like shampoos and what not.
Question: Which personal care, non-pharmaceutical products are required by law to be tested on animals?
    Answer: None!
they dont need to use animals for car accidents they have technology for that and dumbies.
who the hell cares about make up it does not need to be tested on animal its not a neccessity.
    but medications are a necessity…
    do research before you complain.
yes there are some things that still need to be tested on and as hard as that is to be said im ok my grandmas diabetic so things that still ABSOLUTLY HAVE TO be tested on animals they do need to find more humane ways but as of now we need the new medications…i use medicine to say alive and i bet everyone else has one point in their life…it hard i know i love animals more then anything and i work at a vets office i have research and writen papers on animal rights like now i am writing an 8page paper on animal testing.
so people as hard as it is a lot of things that are tested on animals dont need to be it just for liability reasons…but the medications as of now animals are our only way to survive..and i hate that but for now its life.

Here is a really funny quote that I found what do you think?

Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: “Because the animals are like us.” Ask the experimenters why it is morally OK to experiment on animals, and the answer is: “Because the animals are not like us.” Animal experimentation rests on a logical contradiction.
    –Professor Charles R.Magel (1920- )

  30. Anonamous on 24 Apr 2008 at 16:25 #

I think animal testing is wrong! They should stop because if they keep taking the same animals over and over again those animals might go extinct. Down with animal testing!! Don’t you agree?

  31. Karen on 25 Apr 2008 at 15:12 #

I think those who say that cometic testing occurs on animals, you need to re-check your facts. In THe EU this has been banned, however there are products avaiable that has been produced and tested out with the EU. I believe it is in 2013 that the import of these products will be banned also. As for other countries I think they should follow suit.
However, pharmaseutical products need to be tested on animals proir to human testing. There are tests carried out on humans now, and in some cases the product has been approved for testing on humans, but during this stage there has been adverse effects seen. There was public outrage at this, but surely it was good thing that these effects were only limited to a few people rather than it being made avaible to the public then discoveing these effects.
Stem cell Reseach…why is it ok to do testing on cells that have been cultured from huams and or animal but not actually on the aniamls the selves? BUt I believe this is another debate.

Animal testing is so cruel and barbaric!!!!!! It’s nice to know there are other people in the world that has compassion like I do.
Everyone needs to boycott cruel companies by not buying their cruel crappy unsafe products, writing letters and sending emails demanding they stop testing. All the a - holes that test on animals should be tested on!!!!!!!!

i see a lot of posts saying that animal testing is cruel and so on. this is too one-sided.well, some of you here say that we may want to test products on ourselves.however, is anyone of us willing to put ourselves in risk by testing the products on ourselves? Also, is it totally possible to even ban animal testing? Will it not cause us to be unable to produce new and more effective products for e.g. medicine? perhaps we should think abt these questions before saying directly that animal testing should be stopped.

And saying that human testing is horrible and no one would vollenteer for it is one of the stupidest things i have ever heard! Yes its bad but do you think the rabbits who have lost all there fur and there skin is melting away before there eyee volenteerd for that? NO! some evil little man sold them to another evil little man who dosent give a poop about the rabbit. So are we going to just let that rabbits flesh be melted away or are we gonna do somthing about it?

I wish all animal testing would stop too. It’s truly horrific what these animals go through. People can be so heartless and seriously demented. Not only is it cruel but it’s also unsafe since it leads to the wrong conclusions yet it still happens. It’s says a lot about the pathetic human race. I can’t see why people can’t understand that. How would they like to be tortured?!

I’m also sick of companies lying about testing. Many companies say they don’t test on animals but really they pay another company to do the testing for them. Many companies also put Not Tested On Animals on their crap and that misleads consumers because they think the ingredients, formulations and final product is not tested on animals. The truth though is only the final product is not tested on animals. Lots of companies purchase ingredients on animals.

Everyone needs to check out http://www.leapingbunny.org to find out the cruelty free companies that don’t test formulations, ingredients, or final products on animals.

Animal testing; its all about the money guys. the world is so caught up with money that they don’t care whether animals die or not. Products like medicine, perfume, shampoo etc. is used to tested on animals before it is sent to us. And we the consumers don’t care where it comes from, as long as we aren’t told what its was approved on before getting to us. So yeah animal testing is bad but, everyone is using some product that has been tested on animals to benefit our needs. its all about the money guys.

Horrible things are happening to hundreds of of animals as we speak, and the question is-is it fair? My answer along with thousands of others is NO! Animals rely on US and perfoming dangerous tests on them is a breach of ther trust. By the way there is no need to bring religion into this, I believe in God but this could be offensive towards other religions or non-religious people. Please stop.

  50. Animal Lover on 23 Jan 2009 at 18:33 #

Ok look actually more than 1 percent of animals such as dogs rabbits and monkeys ect are used ILLEGALLY especially places like the Hunington sciences place they kill over 500 animals a day on testing. Animals have a different genetic build then humans do hence the reason that the tests are not partcularly acurate.

An estimated 100 million animals are used in laboratory tests every year. Tests are done on all kind of animals: mice, rats, rabbits, apes but also dogs and cats.

5 reasons to ban animal testing:

    - Animal testing is cruel. Many animal tests lead to pain on animals and a part of the tests are performed without any pain killers. Some tests lead to permanent injury or death. The toxicology of some products are tested by putting it in the eyes of a rabbit for days.

    - Animals have rights too. Animals have rights as well and they shouldn’t be violated. Human beings are just another species of animals. Most of us wouldn’t accept that 100 million people would be submitted every year to non-voluntary tests (many leading to pain or death). Why do we allow it with animals? Animals are non-volunteers in tests when tests could be done with alternative methods.

    - Animal tests aren’t reliable. People and animals are different and that’s why a medicine or cosmetic ingredient that is safe on animals may not be it on people or vis-versa. For example aspirin is toxic to rats and mice but not to people (source: BUAV)

    - There are alternative to animal testing. These includes for example embryonic stem cell research. Also using volunteering people instead of non-volunteering animals is one of the alternatives.

    - Animal tests are often unnecessary. As results from animal tests are often considered commercial secrets, it happens that the same products or ingredients are tested many times by different companies. The necessity of animal testing for cosmetics can be also questioned. Furthermore alternatives to animal research could be used.

  51. Animal Lover on 23 Jan 2009 at 18:42 #

To Anonamous talking about medicine. It does not need to be tested on animals like i said animals have a dif genetic make up than we do so the tests could be incorrect.one of the many alternatives. Human VOLUNTEERS. animals are involuntarilly tested upon. why not use human volunteers I would voleenteer to be tested upon to save animals. Let me tell you I would die to have animal testing completely banned and something else I plan on protesting along with others i know not just about animal testing but also about killing animals to make fur boots coats hats and much more clothing belk sells animal fur and some of it is faux but alot of it is real the more expensive stuff you know. I will fight this until the day i have my last breath if i have to and you may say oh its easy to say or type that But I walk the walk and talk the talk I will protest I will make a stand I will do everything humanly possible to get it banned.

  54. Anonymous on 04 Feb 2009 at 3:23 #

Animal Testing is wrong. I mean, there ARE people who do volenteer to be tested on. Animals have done nothing….why should they have to suffer. We should not put makeup on a poor little animal. Even if the animal is a rat, it’s still a living being.

Animal Testing is something that needs to stop right here right now. Animals were not brought here on earth to be tested in chemicals and be connected to wires and be treated like a project. It should be banned.

  58. BitcheslovemecuztheyknowthatIcanfuck on 14 Mar 2009 at 1:39 #

You idiots. You don’t like animal testing? Please, provide an alternative, I’d love to hear it. Computer programs? You think we have that technology? You think a computer can successfully replicate every organ in the human body? Really? Grow a brain. In vitro? A test tube does not posess a cardiovascular system, a metabolic system, or any biological system at all. Predicting side effects of medicines is impossible. Petri dish? All the controls are well watched over and held in place. The human body is erratic and relatively unpredictable. Live testing is only done when there is no other alternative. Every vaccine you’ve ever taken in your life was tested on animals. Nearly every bite of food you’ve forced into your gut has some sort of pesticide used that was tested on animals. The very house you live in has insolation that was tested on animals for esbestos-like side-effects. So you better live in the woods on the ground eating tree bark and dressing in rags because you live in a world where things were tested on animals. Now, I am fully for animals being treated humanely. I have a dog and two cats and I love them very much; thinking about them in pain brings a tear to my eye. But that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about a handful of mice. Fifteen mice for every person in the united states. Your life, the life of your child or your sister or mother, is not worth fifteen mice who would die within THREE MONTHS of being born in the wild? Animals have helped find the treatment for Parkinson’s, Muscular Dystrophy, diabetes, leprosy and even HIV-AIDS. And for what? So a bunch of neo-hippies can throw around their scewed logic behind their computers? If we’re not testing on animals, we’re testing on you or children. So either go and offer yourself up for science or shut the hell up because you’re not helping your cause whatsoever. You obviously know nothing about science, you don’t know how a body works, and you completely disregard the numerous benefits that this has given mankind. As soon as a secure, reliable, 100 percent irrefutable alternative has been created, I will jump on that. I hope we create it so we never have to test on animals again. But until then, either create the alternative yourself or suck it up and stop bitching.

Take off your leather boots, stop drinking milk and eating meat, take off your makeup, and get out of that cozy house you live in you hypocrites.

In response to Anonymous who is ironically straight at the top of this list - no OFFENSE but you seem very narrow-minded. Of couse, you are. You’re thinking of the benefits to all mankind! Seriously though, do you have a domesticated dog or cat at home? Do you know even THEY are used for experiments? If you don’t, I wouldn’t advise getting one. And if you do, if it was suffering with cancer, you’d probably euthanize it - with a rifle! Oh, and your sense of altruism is quite ironic. Try imaging you are in an alternate reality and you are the animal. Would you like to be tested on and tortured? With that lack of imagination, I’m sure you would delight in it. And as the extremely logical, intelligent and completely right and all-knowing person that you are, I just assume you don’t believe in alternate realities. Maybe there’s one waiting for you after you die of cancer or AIDS, and some animal eutanizes You with a rifle

  61. Cher on 25 Mar 2009 at 19:54 #

I’d also like to mention that i meant no harm to anonymous or anyone refuting the idea of animal rights - I just adore animals, and I’ve used cosmetics, I’ve eaten meat etc….We all have flaws as humans, and we should not punish ourselves for it.

Clearly no one has done their research. Also, if you are going to make a post against animal testing it is hard to side with you if your grammar is incorrect. I am doing a research paper on animal testing for medical purposes and here is what i have found.

First of all, in the UK cosmetic testing has been banned since 1997 and no animal have been used for the testing of tobacco products since 1995 (BBC NEWS). Also, California, New York, and New Jersey have laws against animal testing (AAVS).

Most of the mammals used are mice that have been bred to further match the genetic, chemical and biological make up of humans (BBC NEWS). However, many invertabrates and non-mammals are used. Such as fruit flies, earth worms, and zebra fish (Wikipedia locked webpage).

Also, before everyone makes their decision about the ethicality of animal testing here are a couple of things they should know. Before any experiment can be performed on an animal the scientist must present their case and prove that there are no alternatives (Wikipedia locked webpage). Yes there are alternatives for some things such as synthetic skin, and computer models (GEARI). Those things do not provide a clear cut answer all the time. Also, it should be known that since 1997 no licences have been given to experiment on great apes (BBC NEWS).

I would like you all to know that i am against cosmetic and cleaning product testing. However, in biomedical research, animal testing is the only way to get specific, measurable answers.

If you are still against animal testing after doing thorough unbiased research then you should run out and voulenteer to be injected with cancer so that scientists can try to cure you.

i cant believe my eyes reading what some people actually have to say about animal testing. stop using vaccines and drugs which were previously tested on humans will not do a thing for the animals! grow up and get a life! what we need to do is to prevent other still living animals from being used in such tests instead of harping on that childish view. FYI, human genes and animal genes are completely different in nature. what works on an animal, may not work on us humans. how many humans have died or suffered due to drugs which were supposedly tested on animals and “proven to be safe”? and are the lives of rodents, mice, rabbits, monkeys any lesser than that of a human’s? arent they living beings too? they deserve a right to live. they deserve a right to live without the “smart” interferences of humans who claims to be using them for the benefits of mankind! THINK: if animal testing was so successful, they wouldnt be anymore terminal illness. why hasnt there been a cure for cancer after so many years of testing? why hasnt there been a cure for AIDS after so many years of testing?

dont comment if all u know about such things are just at superficial level and if u’re just being a selfish b****** or b****! some people really really need to GROW UP and GET A LIFE!

Lin-Z: not that i mean to be rude, but if u’re doing a research paper, then all the more u should know that WIKIPEDIA is NOT a credible source where u can input into ur paper.

  74. Anonymous on 12 Aug 2009 at 9:07 #

MICE are living beings too! testing on them is just as cruel as testing on other “cute” animals!!

STOP ANIMAL TESTING!! STOP STOP STOP!!

  75. pinkch on 12 Aug 2009 at 12:30 #

@1. Anonymous: Animal testing has become a…habit, shall I say. I am strongly again animal testing. But WE have called ourselves the ‘Intelligent One’, WE have advanced in medical technology and technology itself. WE test products on animals. WE cannot simply throw out our insulins if we have Diabetes. WE cannot not have treatment for cancer. WE can buy cosmetics which are not tested on animals. WE can’t just stop using toiletries. WE can’t just not get vaccinated, neither can our children. If WE followed your advice, ooo we could die out faster than animals.

I’m currently researching to write a speech, as I am going to debate about this topic (We should ban medical testing on animals). I am affirmative side. It’s not as easy as it seems.

But we should ban animal testing, though not completely. It should only be used on the necessary things (eg. medical technology, finding cures etc.). It should not be used for cosmetics or toiletries. Haven’t these people learnt anything out of the last few centuries? I’m sure we all know the secret to making soap or lip balm. We don’t need to continuously hurt or even touch animals for this. How do you think people in the olden days lived?

  76. pinkch on 12 Aug 2009 at 12:33 #

These mice and rats might have been mothers, or children, or fathers. They, like us have feelings too. Shouldn’t researching over hundreds of years inform us what ‘ingredients’ are bad for us? C’mon! I thought we were the intelligent ones.

I guess this has all been a waste…

  77. Mazz =] on 14 Aug 2009 at 9:36 #

Ive been researching information for a debate that I have coming up, and I’m affirmative - that animal testing SHOULD be banned
i was against the idea of animal testing before I had to do this, ever since i found out what it was..
but now, after reading all these posts, i am so strongly against it now
those absolutely sick people who think that its okay and they even *like* the idea, - GO TO HELL.
there are infinite reasons on why this is just so cruel… its just depressing; the thought of all of these people that say its a good cause, because it’s not. RESEARCH AND KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU INSULT LIVING CREATURES THAT ARE JUST LIKE US. THERE *ARE* OTHER ALTERNATIVES! e.g, the skin cells. LOOK IT UP!! its more accurate and a whole lot less painful, with no dying or torture involved.

we have rights, they should have rights.

but i also feel great because of all of those other people [that have a brain] who feel the same way that i do and want to put a stop to it!

    STOP THE ANIMAL TESTING!!

  78. mimi on 16 Aug 2009 at 2:46 #

    that’s a pretty good point…………….

  79. Jack Stephens on 24 Sep 2009 at 15:24 #

Animals will become extinct if we keep testing products on them. Do we really want this? Do we really want all these animals die? How would you like it if you were held down and injected with numerous products or chemicals? What pride have you got to imprison, test and kill animals? Why suffer animals just for our benefit?
Testing animals could kill them. If you test animals and kill them, then the species of that animal may become extinct. We should treat animals like we treat other people.
Testing animals is mainly for our benefit, so we don’t suffer if a new product is corrosive or you are allergic to it. The products will be safer for humans to use.
Animal testing should stop. Human greed is overcoming people; soon it will only be humans living on Earth. Do we really want this?
Some tests lead to permanent injury or death. The toxicology of shampoo is testing on rabbits eyes and they are left there for days and then they are taken out and examined for results of the shampoo.
Animals have rights as well as humans. They should be treated equally. Humans are another species of animals and many of us won’t accept to be tested. So why do we do it to animals?
In WW11 people were held in captivity and tested on in Nazi Concentration Camps. These tests are considered immoral and completely unacceptable nowadays.

hi everybody…. I think animal testing is horrible! why cant they just do it on people who volunteer for it?! Seriously! The government can even pay for it, like they do for blood donations. Animals are living creatures like us and deserve to be treated like us. I’m not talking about being dressed in clothes and rolling around in cadillacs, im talkin about them having rights like we do. Animals are precious creatures, and make this place we live oncomplete. God created them and i dont think he would approve of the way we are torturing his cretions. Thats all i have to say for now but ill be back!!
