Banning animal testing gets you nowhere and it kills people because you aren't willing to take risks because it's "cruel". So what if animals are "cute" and "pretty"? If a thousand cats are sacrificed for saving millions of human lives, I can deal with it. These domesticated animals they use are NOT your pets. They could be testing these things out on your brother or your sister. Would you rather have them die than a dog you'll never know? I know that the argument's not nearly that simple, but throwing away the chance of saving millions of lives in the future is like refusing to give a drowning person a life jacket. Perhaps some experiments they do are just plain wrong and I'll agree to some extent. Some of the things they do to animals should never happen and are pointless and inhumane. And I say that THAT PART of animal testing needs to be banned. But if this testing could be monumental in finding a cure to something like Parkinson's, I can get past the fact that an animal suffers for a while. Now, to continue on my rant about people not knowing what they're talking about and saying they're right: Learn something about what you're taking an opinion about, first. PLEASE. And I'm not saying I know anything about the science of animal testing. Because I don't. But I know what it can produce. It can produce procedures and vaccines and medicines that save more lives than it took. I DO have my own animals and I hate the idea of them dying because of animal testing, but it has to be done. And everything you guys against this are saying about volunteering for these tests is absolute bullshit. You wouldn't EVER put yourself through those tests. You're human beings and you're selfish. You wouldn't die to save a rat. So don't even say that you'd put your life at risk to save cute little Fluffy. They feel pain, yes, but putting them on a pedestal and saying that you can't test something on them because it "hurts them" is infantile, at best. If it's a last option, USE IT. If they suffer some, they can get through it. If they are put down in the end, it's better than letting them bleed out slowly. But if you're testing cosmetics on animals you can -essentially- burn in hell. That's just plain wrong. And, on a more English-related note: OH MY GOD. LEARN HOW TO WRITE, PLASE.
